From 3rd to 7th of July 2023 a delegation of aquaculture experts from Croatia visited University of Tromso in Norway. The aim of the visit was introduction to the aquaculture sector in Norway, as one of the leading and most technologically advanced producers in aquaculture worldwide.  The delegation consisted of: 2 professors from the University of Zadar (Ass. Prof. Tomislav Šarić and Ass. Prof. Ivan Župan), 1 representative of Ministry of Agriculture, Directorate for Fisheries (mrs. Valentina Šebalj), 1 representative of the fish farm Kornat Ittica (mr. Tomislav Bulat), 1 representative of FLAG Tri mora (mr. Vatroslav Karamarko) and independent aquaculture consultant (mr. Danijel Kanski).

During the visit, the representatives from Croatia were able to get a deep insight into most recent and advanced aquaculture production advances and fact sheets. These included the production technology, impact on the environment, interaction with local communities and social acceptability of aquaculture, spatial planning of aquaculture facilities, new advances in RAS systems, health management and prevention and development of new products for the market. All these knowledge gained through the visit will be transferred to Croatian aquaculture sector, with potential to bring new useful information to boost the development of more effective and sustainable aquaculture practice in both countries. To conclude, the visit was very effective and very well balanced with the overall aim of the COADVANCe project, which is building a long-term relationship for the advancement of aquaculture sector in Croatia and Norway.
